Formado em marchetaria (embutidos) pela École Boulle em Paris, Jacky Cavallari chegou a cursar história da arte na Sorbonne, mas foi na madeira que encontrou maiores possibilidades e a identificação como artesão.
Da grande disponibilidade de matéria-prima, ao custo acessível, o artista viu na madeira a oportunidade de trabalhar muitas texturas e formatos, sobretudo ao buscar inspiração na flora e na fauna.
Entre suas habilidades como marcheteiro e ebanista está o desenvolvimento de projetos na arquitetura, decoração e mobiliário, incluindo a concepção e fabricação de painéis de madeira laminados e outros materiais.
Após viver por dez anos no Brasil, aportou em Lisboa.
No seu novo atelier, Jacky divide técnicas e conhecimentos com os seus alunos do curso de marchetaria, atividade que exerceu por vários anos, na Confraria da Madeira, na cidade de Porto Alegre.
Das exposições que fez parte, destacam-se a participação nas mostras “Geografia da criação: arte, moda e design”, no MARGS (Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul), em 2014, e “Objetos de desejo: instrumentos de colecionismo”, na Galeria 189, em 2017, ambas em Porto Alegre.

Formé en marqueterie par l’École BOULLE à Paris, Jacky Cavallari a étudié l’histoire de l’art à la Sorbonne, mais c’est avec le bois qu’il s’est rencontré et identifié comme artisan.
Du grand choix de la matière première à un coût accessible, l’artiste a trouvé dans le bois l’opportunité de nombreuses textures et formats, s’inspirant de la faune et de la flore.
Entre ses habilités comme marqueteur et ébéniste apparait le développement de projets d’architecture d’intérieure, de décoration et de mobilier, incluant la conception et la fabrication de panneaux de bois de placage et autres matériaux.
Après avoir vécu dix ans au Brésil, il a accosté à Lisbonne. Dans son atelier, il partage et transmets techniques et connaissances avec ses élèves du cours de marqueterie, activitée qu’il a exercé durant sept ans à la Confrèrie du Bois à Porto Alegre.
Des expositions auxquelles il a participé, se démarquent “Géographie de la création: art, mode et design”, au MARGS (Musée d’Art du Rio Grande do Sul), en 2014, et “Objets de désir: instruments de collection”, à la Galeria 189, en 2017, toutes deux à Porto Alegre.

Graduated by the École Boulle in Paris, has been living in Brazil for more than 10 years. Jacky Cavallari studied History of Art at Sorbonne but working with wood was where he encountered more possibilities and identification as a craftsman.
From the vast availability of this material to the accessible price, the artist saw in the wood the opportunity to work with several textures and shapes, getting inspired by the fauna and flora from the south region of Brazil.
Among his skills as a marquetrie and cabinetmaker, he has develops projects of architecture, decoration and furniture, as well as the planning and execution of laminated panels and other materials.
After living in Brazil for 10 years, he has come back to Europe to live in Lisbon.
In his new atelier he will share techniques and his knowledge with the students in the courses of marqueterie, activity he has performed for 7 years at the Confraria da Madeira, in the city of Porto Alegre.
From the exhibitions he has been part, it is worth highlighting the one called “Geography of creation: Art, fashion and design” (at the Museum. of Art of Rio Grande do Sul) 2014 e “Object de Desire: instruments of collecting” in Galery 189, 2017, Porto Alegre in Brazil.
